175th Gala Event

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

It was an unforgettable night on Saturday June 9th, as board members, staff, alumni, parents and friends of Overbrook School for the Blind celebrated the school’s 175th Anniversary with a gala at the Hyatt Regency at Penn’s Landing.

The more than 400 guests enjoyed a silent auction, dinner, dancing to the City Rhythm Orchestra and a program honoring, Herman Giersch, William H. McDonald and House Speaker Dennis O’Brien, who have all in some way contributed to the success of Overbrook and its students.  Don Tollefson from Fox29 News served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The gala was the result of an effort by members of Overbrook’s 175th Anniversary Committee who have met throughout the last two years to plan for the evening and silent auction.  Sixteen PNC employees volunteered the evening of the event to help with registration and the silent auction.  Their help was greatly appreciated.
Friends, Staff, and Community members danced the night away at the Black Tie Gala

Trip to see the Phillies!

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

On June 4th, Ms. Hoffmaster’s class went to a Phillies Game!

The class wrote a letter to the Phillies and they sent them free tickets!!

Instead of Fun Day, we took a trip to Citizens Bank Field so see the Philadelphia Phillies play the San Fransisco Giants. Unfortunately they lost 8-1, but we still have the memories of a fun day.
