If a baby
who has limited vision is not helped to understand
what she is seeing, she may stop using her
vision altogether. If parents with a baby who
is totally blind are not reached immediately
by people who can help them cope, they may
feel utterly helpless and alone. This is where
Overbrook's T.E.A.M.S. (Together Exploring
All My Senses) Early Intervention Program comes
in.
Together
Exploring All My Senses is a home-based program
for the families of children ages birth to
three years, who are visually impaired and
who may have additional disabilities. The focus
of the program is to give support and education
to families to help their child. The home visits
are a time when the staff and the families
work together to create a fun and exciting
world, where their child can grow and learn.
The teams program serves families in the Bucks,
Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia
counties. The staff also supports families
by going with them on doctor's appointments,
organizing family support groups and planning
activities in the community. T.E.A.M.S hosts
an annual, week-long
workshop for families throughout Pennsylvania,
the United States and the world. Feel
free to view our PowerPoint Slide show from
the TEAMS Summer Workshop, the file is quite
large and will take some time to download.
