Faculty & Staff
At OSB, students are supported by professionals who understand that visual impairment can shape how a child communicates, moves, learns, builds relationships and experiences the world.
Leaders in the Field of Visual Impairment
Many OSB professionals contribute their knowledge beyond the classroom through leadership, advocacy, research, training and professional service.
OSB faculty and staff have served on boards and advisory groups supporting people who are blind, visually impaired, deafblind or hard of hearing. Their involvement helps shape professional practice, strengthen educational opportunities and advance understanding of visual impairment locally, nationally and internationally.

Organizations represented by OSB professionals have included:
Pennsylvania Advisory Committee on Education of Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired
Pennsylvania Deafblind Advisory Committee
Deaf-Hearing Communication Centre
National Association of Parents of Children with Visual Impairments
Council of Schools and Services for the Blind
International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment
Learning Never Stops
OSB staff members participate in ongoing professional development so their knowledge continues to reflect evolving research, educational practices and student needs.

Collaboration With Families
Families bring essential knowledge about their children.
At OSB, staff members work closely with parents, caregivers and school districts to understand each student’s priorities, recognize progress and develop meaningful goals.
This partnership helps ensure that strategies used at school can also support students at home and in their communities.
