Construction of the new on-campus Bus Turnaround and Dining Hall begins June 15

A letter from Pamela Vasserman, Director of Development and Communications at OSB:

Dear Neighbors,

We are excited to share that construction for Overbrook School for the Blind will officially begin on June 15, 2026.

This important project represents a significant investment in our campus and our mission to empower children who are blind or visually impaired. The improvements planned for this phase will help us better serve our students, clients, families, and the broader community for years to come.

As construction gets underway for our new dining hall and improved bus turnaround, there will inevitably be some temporary disruptions. Community members should anticipate:

  • Periodic road closures and traffic pattern changes in and around the campus
  • Increased construction-related noise during normal working hours
  • Occasional construction vehicle traffic and equipment activity

We understand these inconveniences may impact our neighbors and visitors, and we want to assure you that we are committed to minimizing disruptions whenever possible. This project is an important investment in the future of our campus, helping to create a safer, more accessible, and more welcoming environment for our students, families, staff, and visitors.

Our project team and contractors will work diligently to:

  • Maintain safe access to campus and surrounding areas
  • Limit construction noise to designated work hours
  • Communicate major traffic or access changes in advance
  • Follow all applicable safety and environmental regulations

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we undertake this transformative project. The enhancements made through this project will strengthen OSB's ability to provide life-changing educational and support services for generations to come.

We will continue to share updates throughout the construction process and encourage community members to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for being an important part of the OSB community and for supporting our vision for the future.

Sincerely,

Pamela Vasserman, MBA, MS, CAP
