Overbrook School for the Blind Elects Dr. Colleen Christian as President of the Board of Trustees

Philadelphia, PA — Overbrook School for the Blind proudly announces the election of Dr. Colleen Christian as President of its Board of Trustees. A dedicated board member and respected pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Christian succeeds Mr. Lyle Sine, who recently concluded his board service after many years of exceptional leadership and commitment.

Dr. Christian has served on the Board of Trustees for eight years and most recently as Chair of the Instruction Committee. Her professional expertise, thoughtful leadership, and longstanding connection to the school position her well to guide the Board as Overbrook continues to build on its strong foundation and look toward the future.

“I am honored to serve in this role and to support a school that means so much to so many,” said Dr. Christian. “Overbrook is an extraordinary place, and I continue to be inspired by the students, the families, and the incredible faculty and staff who make its mission come to life every day. I am excited for what lies ahead and for the opportunity to help advance the school’s important work.”

Dr. Christian grew up in Southern California. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, her Doctor of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University, and a Master’s in Health Care Innovation from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of numerous professional medical associations, is a mentor at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and taught for many years at Jefferson Medical School and the Wills Eye Institute. She currently serves as an Attending Surgeon in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Ophthalmology Associates in Lansdale.

Overbrook also expresses its deep appreciation to Mr. Lyle Sine for his distinguished service to the school. As the first alumnus to serve as President of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Sine brought a unique perspective and deep personal connection to the role. His leadership and devotion to Overbrook have been invaluable, and he plans to remain actively involved in the school's life.
