Photo Slideshow below of Wrestling and Cheerleading Practice
Our wrestlers and cheerleaders are pictured practicing in the Field House. There are young men and women on both the wrestling and cheerleading teams pictured working hard with the coaches and each other.
Overbrook School for the Blind offers the opportunity for students over 13 years old to participate in extracurricular sports. Our athletic program is part of the EAAB league (Eastern Athletic Association for the Blind) which competes against other visually impaired schools. Five competitive sports - Swimming, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Goalball, and Track, and Field - are offered, and all of these sports are coached and supervised by certified Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs).
OSB’s athletic program is a way for our students to enhance their social skills, learn teamwork, increase their self-esteem, and gain independence. They learn about good sportsmanship when competing against other athletes especially when they travel to Maryland, West Virginia, New York, and Boston, for competitions.
Athletic Association
As an active and charter member of the Eastern Athletic Association of the Blind (EAAB), Overbrook School for the Blind hosts competitions throughout the year and our student-athletes travel to compete against other schools for the blind. All of our sports are adapted for athletes with visual impairments.
Post-Graduation Sports
Many Overbrook students continue to participate in sports after graduating by joining sports organizations for the blind like the United States Association for Blind Athletes or the Blind Sports Organization.
