Curriculum: Unique Curriculum. Prentice Hall. Fearon. All students receive instruction in the general education curriculum aligned with the PA Core Standards. Additionally, students receive instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum for students with visual impairments (ECC).
Small class sizes are provided so that small group and individualized instruction is possible in all content areas to abide by the PA Core Standards, and the OSB Health and Safety Plan which is based on city, state and federal guidelines. High school students have immediate access to materials prepared in their literacy medium such as; braille, large print, auditory, as well as access and adaptive technology. The Expanded Core Curriculum is infused in the classes every day, by highly qualified teachers who specialize in working with students who are visually impaired along with other diverse educational backgrounds.
Therapists are scheduled in the classroom using the Integrated Therapy Model to provide the greatest opportunity for collaboration and follow up with the classroom staff. This allows for a multidisciplinary approach to assist a student to fully be engaged in their education.
